Alaskan Surrogacy Resources

About Tammy

Hi!  I am Tammy and not only am I a mother of 4 kids and wife, but I was also a 3 time Traditional Surrogate.

I moved to Alaska in 1996 after my Husband was medically retired from the Navy. Together with our then 2 kids, we moved to the tiny town of Delta Junction. After 8 years we ventured north to Fairbanks following a job lead. Fairbanks is a marvelous little gem of a town! After nearly 3 years there we moved to California temporarily for my husband's work. Needless to say, California was not our thing and after just 8 short months we moved back and landed in Anchorage where we now call home. Alaska has grabbed a hold of our hearts and will not let go. We will be here forever and plan to raise our kids in the best place on Earth!

My decision to become a surrogate was pretty easy. I simply adore being pregnant and I have very easy pregnancies and deliveries. Before embarking upon my first surrogate journey, we added 2 more kids to our family making it complete. I had 6 years to research and make sure that Surrogacy was where my heart was leading. During that time I also determined that Traditional Surrogacy (TS) was the path I was destined to take.

In the winter of 2003 I was ready and placed a classified ad on a popular Surrogate Web Site and within weeks began talking and emailing with a lovely couple from Ohio. After months of getting to know each other we agreed to take the plunge and move forward with contract followed closely by our first round of Artificial Inseminations.   We got pregnant that very first cycle and 40 weeks later a handsome boy of 10pounds 4oz was born!

Later, I met my second match via an agency. We all moved too fast and eventually broke up after 4 months with no pregnancy resulting. I learned a lot about surrogacy and agencies from that relationship. My goal from that experience is to make sure that other surrogate's and Intended Parents don't make the same mistakes I did by taking the time to get to know each other, to have back ground checks done, and to make sure everyone is on the same page before the contracts are even written.

When my first TS babe was about 8 months old and when I was not even looking for a couple to help, 2 amazing Intended Father's fell into my lap. They were from Europe and even though we were 10 hours and thousands of miles apart, our relationship was wonderful and we grew very close.

We did not rush our relationship but things still moved quickly. About 1 year after we met, Andreas was conceived and born 9 months later in my bathroom at home resulting in my very first home birth!

Finally, I completed my Surrogacies with another gay couple from Europe. The end result was a perfect little girl who is being spoiled by 2 awesome father's and a ton of family members!

I have remained really good friends with all of my Intended Parents and I still have on-going contact with all the families I have helped including letters, emails and pictures and occasional phone calls.

My heart has been filled with not only the amazing love of my own children but of those babies I helped give life to.

About Heather

Hi, my name is Heather. I was born and raised in Sitka Alaska.
After high school I married Anthony. We met here in Anchorage at my
friends Prom. He is Active Duty Army and we have three
beautiful children, Bryce Hailey, & Addisyn.

I have been involved with Surrogacy since June 2002,
after the birth of my son I knew I wanted to help others have
children. I have mentored many surrogates and Intended
parents through my website and I am very involved with the
surrogate community
I love guiding people and answering their questions.
I am a two time experienced Gestational Surrogate. I met my
first set of Intended parents in July 2002. We knew immediately that we
were a match. We drew up contracts and got pregnant on the
first transfer with twins. At 12 weeks we found out that one of
the twins passed away. This was a sad time for both my
intended parents and I. I carried their daughter until
41 weeks 3 days where she was finally born August 24, 2003
weighing in at 8 lbs 11 oz.  Her mother cut her cord, and gave
her the first bath.
It was a Magical experience and one I will never forget.

My second journey was the best any surrogate could ask for.
I met Natalie and Jon through an online surrogate community.
We spoke daily on the phone and emailed back and forth
several times a week. After 5 months of getting to know
each other we attempted our first cycle. Unfortunately all
the embryos arrested and we weren't able to transfer.
We stopped all our meds and were very disappointed.
But it did not deter us, we knew that this would work.
We started our meds again two months later and had a
successful 3 day embryo transfer. The Reproductive
endocrinologist said we had only a 20 percent chance of it
working. 7 days after the transfer I found out that I was
pregnant. 2 betas later I called Natalie and Jon and told them
the exciting news. After a wonderful pregnancy they were
blessed on April 28, 2008 with a very handsome "little" boy
weighing in at 9 lbs 9 oz & 22 inches long.

I am also an experienced Egg Donor, I did my first donation
on December 13, 2005, which resulted in 21 eggs, 19
fertilized. I did this as a shared donation, so I had Two
wonderful IM's, one got 10 embryos and the other got 9.
One wasn't ready to transfer so she has 4 frozen embryos
waiting for her, the other transferred 3, and her beta was
negative. We were both heartbroken, but have continued to
stay in touch and are still very close.
